Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Studio Design Director to lead and elevate a dynamic Workplace Interiors practice in Boston. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall design direction and creative vision for workplace interiors projects across the studio.
- Foster design excellence by establishing and maintaining high standards for innovation, quality, and project execution.
- Champion and implement the firm's design processes, methodologies, and innovation tools to achieve project and brand objectives.
- Drive projects from programming and conceptual design through execution, ensuring cohesive and impactful design solutions.
- Present design concepts and strategic recommendations confidently to clients, stakeholders, and leadership teams.
- Collaborate with studio leaders and project managers to align creative direction with business goals and client objectives.
- Oversee and mentor project designers and design teams, promoting professional growth and technical excellence.
- Guide the development of design deliverables, including conceptual presentations, imagery, schedules, budgets, and supporting documentation.
- Lead facility requirements analysis, programming, strategic planning, systems integration, and workplace design initiatives.
- Support business development efforts through client engagement, presentations, networking, and pursuit activities.
- Identify and implement emerging technologies and innovative tools that enhance project delivery and communication.
- Maintain expertise in workplace design trends, construction practices, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Represent the studio within the design community through industry events, professional organizations, publications, and thought leadership initiatives.
Skills & Experience
- Professional degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Professional registration as an Interior Designer or Architect required.
- 15+ years of experience within the design industry, including significant workplace interiors experience.
- Proven track record of leading successful workplace projects and managing high-performing design teams.
- Strong business development experience, including client presentations, pursuits, and relationship management.
- Demonstrated ability to establish design vision and consistently deliver innovative, high-quality design solutions.
- Experience pursuing or receiving design awards and contributing to published design work preferred.
- Deep understanding of global workplace design trends, programming, strategic planning, and systems integration.
- Exceptional leadership, mentorship, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Active involvement in industry organizations and professional associations.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, or other 3D modeling platforms preferred.
- Strong knowledge of materials, construction practices, specifications, and project delivery processes.
